This is the webpage of the Nordic Network in Systems Biology funded by NordForsk
Systems biology aims at building computational replicas of organisms, cells and subcellular modules in order to study and exploit the properties of biological systems. As such, Systems Biology is inherently multidisciplinary, requiring interaction of researchers from biology, engineering, mathematics and computer sciences. Systems Biology is expected to have major potential for treatment of diseases as well as in bioengineering. Presently, the investments in Systems Biology research are clearly ahead of those in relevant research training. This network aims at filling this gap by bringing together Nordic research groups from different disciplines with an interest in Systems Biology of microbial cells, i.e. model organisms and industrial organisms. This network will shape the landscape of research training in Systems Biology by overcoming the boundaries between traditional disciplines using the expertise available at different Nordic universities.
